​

 저의 작품세계는 기저에 인간에 대한 저의 애정과 연민을 품고 있습니다. 태어난 그 순간부터 예정된 이별을 향해 살아가는 우리는 그 자체로 연약하고 슬픈 존재입니다. 하지만 그 끝에 어떻게 도달할 것인지는 우리에게 달려있습니다. 우리는 때로 누구도 예상하지 못한 강인함을 보여주기도 하고 때로는 전혀 예상하지 못한 의외의 방법으로 난관을 극복합니다. 이러이러한 평균의 도출 결과 불가능하다고 판정받은 상황을 이겨내는 예외적인 존재가 되기도 합니다. 작고 연약하지만 그 안에 품고 있는 것은 감히 규정할 수 없는 무한한 가치입니다.

 PicCell 시리즈는 이러한 인간의 무한한 가치를 이미지의 가장 기본단위인 픽셀에 빗대어 시각적으로 표현해본 작품입니다. 하나의 기계처럼 돌아가는 현대 사회 속에서 언제든 대체 가능한 부품과도 같은 인생을 살아가는 우리가 점차 잊어가고 있는 이 가치를 상기시키고자 이번 작품을 기획하게 되었습니다. 작품은 고정되어 있지 않아 흔들리며, 제작 과정에서 찢기, 태우기, 구기기, 깨뜨리기 등의 통제가 어려운 다양한 요소들을 적용하여 부품으로서의 자격 상실, 대체하기가 어려운 성격을 구현해 보았습니다. 
 

 하나의 세포에서 시작한 우리는 곧 무한한 변수이자 가능성의 집합체가 됩니다. “여러분은 타인에 의해 규정될 수 없으며 대체불가능한 존재입니다. 다른 사람의 틀에 여러분을 끼워 맞추려 하지 마세요.” 제가 전하고자 하는 메세지가 새로운 것은 아닐 것입니다. 단지 자극적인 세상에서 진부하고 지루한 이야기로 취급되어 저 구석에 박혀 천으로 덮여 먼지가 가득 쌓인 그것을 다시금 드러내는 일입니다. 저는 저의 작품이 작품을 관람하는 순간의 관람객들의 1회성 경험으로 끝나는 것이 아니고, 마치 영화 인셉션의 내용처럼 그것을 통해 관람자들의 사고 깊은 곳에서부터 사회에 이르기까지 실질적인 변화의 바람을 일으킬 수 있기를 소망합니다. 그래서 막 사회생활을 시작하는 어린 아이부터 모두를 아울러, 현대인들이 자신을 옭아매고 있는 많은 사슬 중에서 하나라도 끊어내고 자유로워지기를 바랍니다.

Picture Cell 

​

 My artistic world is based on my love and compassion for humanity. From the moment we are born, living towards an inevitable separation, we are fragile and sorrowful beings in ourselves. But how we will reach that end is up to us. We sometimes show unexpected strength, and at other times, we overcome obstacles in completely unexpected ways. At times, we become exceptional beings who overcome situations that have been deemed impossible to achieve through mere averages. Though we may be small and fragile, the intangible value that we carry within ourselves is immeasurable and infinite.
 

 The PicCell series is a work that visually represents this infinite value of human beings by comparing it to the basic unit of images, pixels. I have planned this work to remind ourselves of the value that we are gradually forgetting as we live our lives like replaceable parts in a modern society that functions like a machine. The artwork is not fixed and can be shaken. Throughout the creation process, it may be torn, burnt, rolled, or broken, making it difficult to control various factors. By incorporating these unpredictable elements, the artwork emphasizes the value of being irreplaceable and difficult to substitute as a part. 
 

 Starting from a single cell, we soon become a collection of infinite variables and possibilities. "You cannot be defined by others and are an irreplaceable existence. Do not try to fit into other people's molds." The message I want to convey may not be new. It is simply about bringing back to light something that has been relegated to a corner, covered in dust, and treated as a stale and boring story in a world full of stimulating experiences. I hope that my artwork can create practical changes from the deep thoughts of the audience to the society, rather than being just a one-time experience for the audience when viewing the artwork, like the story of the movie Inception. Therefore, from young children who are just starting their social lives to everyone else, I hope that modern people can break free from the many chains that bind them and become free.
